Laser Training Institute

Not-for-profit medical laser education

The Laser Training Institute has taught accredited laser courses to medical and aesthetic professionals since 1978.

The Platform in Practice

How they are used

An education body of this kind puts a laser in front of a new group of operators every few weeks. Each delegate is learning on the device rather than earning on it, which means constant handling, constant parameter changes and a platform that has to be as accurately calibrated for the last delegate of the year as for the first.

Courses of this type cover consultation and skin assessment, parameter selection, safe operation and eyewear, treatment sequence and after-care, and the safety documentation a practice is expected to keep.

About the school

The Laser Training Institute is the teaching arm of the Professional Medical Education Association, a not-for-profit continuing education provider founded in 1978 and based in Grove City, Ohio, with a second office in Green Cove Springs, Florida.

It teaches physicians, nurses, technicians, aestheticians, repair technicians and practice managers across medical, surgical, dental, aesthetic and therapeutic laser use, and covers laser safety and the Medical Laser Safety Officer role as well as laser repair. Courses run as one to seven day seminars, as in-house sessions held at a client facility on the client own lasers, as online study, and as accredited private sessions delivered to a group over video.

The association also runs the National Council on Laser Certification, the body behind the NCLC certification that the Cervello education programme prepares candidates for.
